NEW YORK, NY (October 2, 2013) – Filter just finished up their hugely successful North American tour with Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington and are already heading back out on the road for their “Self Inflicted” headline tour with special guests Red, Otherwise and We As Human.  The tour will kick off in Los Angeles at House of Blues on October 3.

Filter’s Wind-up Records debut album, The Sun Comes Out Tonight, was released on June 4, 2013.  Upon its release, it debuted top 20 on the Active Rock Album Chart; their single, “What Do You Say” reached #14 on the rock charts.  Their second single, “Surprise” will go to Rock and Alternative radio October 15th and has already garnered some early adds.

Beginning today fans will have a chance to share their tickets, either by taking a photograph of them or by showing proof of purchase, from the Filter “Self Inflicted” tour using #FilterSurprise on Twitter and Instagram for a chance to win a special Soundcheck meet and greet with the band.  The tweets and instagrams will be collected and pulled into http://www.officialfilter.com/; winners will be chosen daily.

Recorded in Los Angeles at Blue Room Studios with producer Bob Marlette, The Sun Comes Out Tonight was written and recorded by leader Richard Patrick and guitarist Jonny Radtke, as well as collaborator Marlette.

Formed in 1993, Filter has enjoyed significant success over the past two decades.  The band released their critically acclaimed first album Short Bus in 1995, a disc Rolling Stone praised as "a timely combination of grunge heat and industrial ice." Fueled by the top 10 hit "Hey Man Nice Shot," the album rocketed to # 3 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart and went on to sell more than a million copies. They raised the bar with 1999's Title of Record which featured the top 10 rock hit "Welcome To The Fold" along with a blockbuster crossover smash in "Take A Picture," a song that shot to # 3 on Billboard's Modern Rock Chart, # 7 on its Adult Top 40 Chart and # 1 on its Dance Music/Club Play Chart. The years that followed saw the band releasing three more albums - 2002's The Amalgamut, 2008's Anthems For The Damned and 2010's The Trouble with Angels, while touring the world and amassing a huge international fan base whose member’s number in the millions. Filter has also contributed songs to several blockbuster soundtracks, most recently their cover of “Happy Together” which was recently featured in the trailer of the film The Great Gatsby and has sold almost 95,000 singles.  Filter’s song “What Do You Say” is featured in the trailer for the game Fuse and “Burn It” is featured in the ad for the game Diablo 3.

Indie Shuffle calls “Heart of a Lion” “...light, upbeat and fun, it will put a smile on your face and some dance in your step…It’s certainly one of the best new songs I’ve heard recently…” while The Burning Ear says “These guys are fun in a bottle. [“Heart of a Lion” has] big ‘ooh, oohs,’ a relentless rhythm section, and then that little tender part at where you recompose yourself before building up to the rock-outro.” The Griswolds full album will be out early 2014 but beginning today, May 2nd The Griswolds will give away a free track, “Mississippi” “...an incredibly colorful and upbeat cut that practically embodies the summer season in its upbeat feel,” says The Music Ninja The track was also featured in an Original Skateboard video at the end of last year and has garnered close to 200,000 views. Jillette Johnson releasing new album ‘Water in a Whale’

Jillette Johnson will be releasing her new album 'Water in a Whale' on June 25th. It's going to be perfect for the summertime!

WATER IN A WHALE OUT June 25, 2013;

POWERFUL SINGLE “CAMERON” EXPLORES THE STRUGGLE OF BEING TRANSGENDER

TEAMING UP WITH PLEDGEMUSIC TO DONATE TO HEY U.G.L.Y

 ON TOUR WITH KRIS ALLEN NOW

NEW YORK, NY (April 16, 2013) – 23 year-old New York City singer/songwriter Jillette Johnson will release her Wind-up Records debut album, Water In a Whale (track listing below), on June 25, 2013.  Written by Jillette Johnson and produced by Peter Zizzo (Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne, Vanessa Carlton) and Michael Mangini (David Byrne, Joss Stone), Water In A Whale is the follow up to her 2012 critically acclaimed EP, Whiskey & Frosting, which is available now.

Johnson garnered numerous accolades for  Whisky & Frosting with her depth and maturity in her songwriting, her soaring vocals and lyrics that prove to be everything from controversial to comforting to spiritually arousing.  CMJ called it, “…one of those rare debuts where you experience a young songwriter with a highly mature sense of artistic self…It’s an emotional five-song collection of stately pop from an unflinchingly honest artist” while Baeblemusic proclaimed, “…it really takes something special to get our attention in this over saturated scene. Jillette Johnson is one of those remarkable talents who rose above to create one of the most exciting piano-driven EPs in recent memory…Her genuine voice and expressiveness is only exceeded by her ability to craft magnificent songs.”

As a teen, Johnson left her small town of Pound Ridge, New York, population 4,000 to move to NYC’s vibrantly creative LES neighborhood. In the years that followed, Johnson auditioned for and ultimately turned down a slot on The Voice to focus on songwriting then sign with Wind-up Records.  All of Johnson’s songs tell a compelling story that draws the listener in.  From her first single, the bravely vulnerable “Cameron,” a song which ultimately got her signed to Wind-up, Johnson explores the struggle of being transgender and gives an inspiring voice about staying true to your authentic self to “Pauvre Coeur” (poor heart), a confessional song about love gone wrong that Paste Magazine calls “…melancholic sound from the piano and the true angst in Johnson’s voice make this a beautifully depressing song and video” and Nylon Magazine exclaims, “Her VOICE. Jillette can sing and she’s not afraid to let everyone know about it. She rips through this song like a rock opera. It’s a little La Boheme meets Carol King in her prime,” Johnson is an artist that will draw you in with each story she tells.

Wind-up Records and Jillette Johnson have teamed up with PledgeMusic to offer a unique pre-order campaign.  Fans can pledge for any of the exclusive items and experiences listed on Johnson’s PledgeMusic page including a private house show, a day in the studio with Johnson and even a personal song written just for them along with much more. Those who do so will also hear streams of new songs, see videos and pictures of Johnson on tour, receive a digital download of Water In a Whale and more.  Johnson will donate a portion of the pledged proceeds to Hey U.G.L.Y. - Unique Gifted Lovable You, a bullying prevention nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth to be their true selves and part of the solution to bullying.  Utilizing peer-to-peer learning, world class speakers and the Choose To Change radio show, Hey U.G.L.Y. helps schools and youth-serving organizations co-create an environment of respect, acceptance and inclusion.

Johnson will be on tour with Kris Allen through May.
