NEW YORK, NY (May 2, 2013) – Wind-up Records is proud to announce the signing of The Griswolds, a five-piece alt-pop band from Sydney, Australia. Their infectious melodies and catchy tunes arrive just in time for summer. Everyone from triple j radio, Australia’s premiere alternative radio station, to the blogosphere have embraced The Griswolds joyful sounds which Neon Gold Blog hails “Their euphoric slice of indie pop brings to mind the youthful exuberance of Vampire Weekend with the nonchalant cool of The Strokes and percussive intensity of Friendly Fires…” “Heart Of A Lion,” the band’s first track, will be available digitally August 13th. Upon its release in Australia, the song was immediately added into high rotation on triple j and ended 2012 as one of the station’s most played tracks of the year. The international airwaves were quick to take notice with the song attracting airplay in over 20 countries worldwide and landing the #12 spot on We are Hunted’s emerging chart. “Heart Of A Lion” also reached #3 on the radio airplay charts in The Netherlands via tastemaker station 3FM and was an iTunes single of the week in the region. Indie Shuffle calls “Heart of a Lion” “...light, upbeat and fun, it will put a smile on your face and some dance in your step…It’s certainly one of the best new songs I’ve heard recently…” while The Burning Ear says “These guys are fun in a bottle. [“Heart of a Lion” has] big ‘ooh, oohs,’ a relentless rhythm section, and then that little tender part at where you recompose yourself before building up to the rock-outro.” The Griswolds full album will be out early 2014 but beginning today, May 2nd The Griswolds will give away a free track, “Mississippi” “...an incredibly colorful and upbeat cut that practically embodies the summer season in its upbeat feel,” says The Music Ninja. The track was also featured in an Original Skateboard video at the end of last year and has garnered close to 200,000 views. The Griswolds are gearing up to take America by storm next when they play here this May beginning in LA with MUSEEXPO on May 5th, NARM on May 8th and The Viper Room on May 9th, then on to New York where they will play Brooklyn Bowl as part of Popshop on May 11th and the Mercury Lounge on May 13th before heading to the UK where they will be playing some key international festivals including Great Escape and London Calling. Last year they played Parklife, Homebake, Peats Ridge and have toured in support of Django Django and San Cisco among others.
